Product Update: Sign Delay
Overview
This release introduces the Sign Delay feature for Document Viewer. After a report is signed, the report enters a temporary Pending Signature state for a configurable period of time. During this period, the signing radiologist or physician can review the report and, if necessary, undo the signature before it becomes permanent. Organizations can configure the delay duration or disable the feature through Organization Settings.
What's New
1. Pending Signature State After Signing
What changed:
When a report is signed, a countdown timer begins using the organization's configured sign delay duration. During this period, the report remains in a Pending Signature state.
Benefit:
Provides a review period before the signature becomes permanent, allowing users to address last-minute changes if required.
2. Pending Signatures Panel
What changed:
A new Pending Signatures panel is available through the notification icon. The panel displays reports currently in a sign delay state, live countdown timers, and actions to view or undo pending signatures.
Benefit:
Allows users to monitor and manage pending signatures from a central location without reopening reports.
3. Undo and Sign Now Actions
What changed:
Users can undo a signature during the delay period and return the report to an editable state. Alternatively, selecting Sign Now bypasses the remaining delay period and immediately finalizes the signature.
Benefit:
Provides flexibility to either make corrections before finalization or complete signing immediately when no additional review is required.
Important Notes
- Only the user who signed the report can undo or edit it while the report is in a Pending Signature state.
- Other users cannot modify the report during the delay period.
- Once the countdown reaches zero, the signature is permanently finalized.
- The default sign delay duration is 2 minutes.
- Delay values can be configured between 0.5 and 15 minutes in 0.5-minute increments.
- A value of 0 is not permitted. To disable Sign Delay, administrators must turn the feature off.
- If a report is unsigned and then signed again, the countdown restarts using the full configured delay period.
- Selecting Sign Now permanently finalizes the report and removes the Undo option.
- Administrators control feature enablement and duration through Organization Settings.
