Coming Soon: Self-Scheduling
Overview
This release introduces a redesigned self-scheduling workflow in the Blume Patient Portal, focused on streamlining the appointment booking process and reducing patient drop-off.
What's New
1. Email Verification with OTP Code
What changed:
The self-scheduling flow now begins with email verification. Patients enter their email address and receive a 6-digit verification code. This step is new and happens before procedure selection.
Benefit:
Ensures accurate patient identification and provides a personalized experience for new vs. returning patients.
2. AI-Powered Referral Form Upload
What changed:
Patients can now upload their doctor's referral or imaging order form. The system automatically extracts key information, including the imaging procedure type and referring physician name, pre-filling these fields in the confirmation step.
Benefit:
Reduces manual data entry, reduces errors, and speeds up booking. Patients don't have to type in procedure details manually.
3. Personalized Flow for New and Returning Patients
What changed:
After email verification, the workflow branches based on patient status. New patients enter their details (name, date of birth, phone). Returning patients select from their linked profiles.
Benefit:
Streamlines the experience for both groups. Returning patients can book faster by selecting an existing profile rather than re-entering information.
4. Automated Imaging Center Pre-Selection
What changed:
For new patients, the closest imaging center to their location is automatically pre-selected. Patients can easily change it using the dropdown menu.
Benefit:
Reduces the number of selections patients need to make, streamlining the booking experience.
5. Intelligent Time Slot Pre-Selection
What changed:
The earliest available appointment slot is automatically highlighted for patients. They can select it or choose any other available time that works for them.
Benefit:
Speeds up the booking process by offering a sensible default while maintaining patient choice.
Important Notes
- Unknown Procedure option: If a patient selects "Unknown Procedure", they skip the date/time selection step and proceed directly to the confirmation screen.
- Referral form requirement: The referral form upload feature requires clear, readable documents for accurate AI extraction.
- Mobile support: Patients on mobile devices can capture referral forms directly using their device camera.
- Organization configuration: Administrators must enable self-scheduling and configure their imaging procedures in OmegaAI for this feature to be available.
