Presentation State

Overview

Presentation State (PR) in OmegaAI captures and preserves the exact visual configuration of medical images as set by the user — including window level, zoom, pan, rotation, flip, and any applied measurements or annotations. Saved states ensure consistency and compatibility when images are shared, exported, or reloaded for viewing, eliminating the need to manually reconfigure settings each time a study is opened.

What Is a Presentation State?

A Presentation State is a DICOM-compliant object that stores the visual and interactive configuration of an image or series at a specific point in time. When a study is reopened or transferred to another system, the PR ensures the following settings remain intact:

  • Window Width / Level
  • Display Area
  • Zoom
  • Flip
  • Rotate
  • Pan
  • Measurements and Annotations

When Is a Presentation State Created?

A PR is created automatically when a user with the appropriate permissions clicks Done or Done & Next in the Image Viewer or QC Module, for any study not yet marked as Verified.

A PR can also be saved manually if the user has the appropriate access rights.

PR is also saved with bookmarks that retain the view state and tool configuration.

To learn more about bookmarks, see Save Bookmarks.

Presentation State Conversion to DICOM

When exporting studies, burning to CD, or transmitting via OmegaAI Link, Presentation States are converted into DICOM objects. This conversion retains key PR elements to ensure consistency and interoperability across systems.

Automatic Behavior

When a study is loaded in the Image Viewer, the most recently saved Presentation State is applied automatically for a seamless review experience.

If a PR exists for a study, it overrides the default auto-window leveling to preserve the intended image interpretation.
